Description   Salep Salep is a long standing Turkish drink from the Ottoman period and still very popular today. It is served piping hot and in Turkey, people of all ages flock to the local bakery and coffee shops to consume it, especially on cold days and evenings! Salep is a flour made from the tubers of wild orchids grown on the local Turkish countryside along the Anatolian plateau. This unique milled flour from the orchid tubers is also notably the main ingredient in making orchid ice cream, which is quite a delicious treat. It is said that Salep has medicinal traits for gum disease, will sooth a sore throat and aids in digestion.
