Tahini (Tahin)

Tahini is made entirely from Sesame Seeds. It is a very healthy high protein food containing no cholesterol and has a long shelf life. Tahini is rich in B vitamins and protein, the same as milk.

Tahini (Tahin in Turkish), the past from the ground sesame seeds is a major ingredient in hummus and other dishes from the Middle East. It can be purchased fresh in a jar, canned tin, or dehydrated in powder form. Tahini comes in two types, 'hulled' or 'unhulled'. Both kinds are high in vitamins and proteins. In Turkey, tahini is often served for a breakfast dish along with meats. It is quickly becoming more common and popular in European cuisine, is now being sold in U.S. supermarkets, and can be found as an ingredient in some prepackaged sandwiches.
