Visitors coming to the palace during the reign of the Ottoman Empire would be served food and drink on cups and plates of gold adorned by the palace jewellers with precious stones such as rubies to reflect the splendor of the sultanate. These objects are on exhibit today at various museums as pieces of the Ottoman Palace Treasury. Yesim Ewer was inspired by the original ewer adorned with jade, emeralds and rubies that is now on display at the Topkapi Palace Treasury Room.

The Yesim Ewer is of hand-made glass and all its patterns of relief have also been produced by hand and plated in 24-carat gold.
