The Balikli Perfume Bottle was inspired by a glass perfume bottle that dates back to the period 1260-1280. The bottle carries an inscription in the calligraphy of the early Memluke period that sats that the bottle has been made "for the lord of our state, the ruler of all peoples, the just and esteerned Sultan Cihan." This inscription shows that the original bottle was either produced for or used by the Sultan.The bottle's name refers to significance of fish as a symbol of abudance.

Balikli Parfum Sisei, 1260-1280 yillari arasina tarihlenen, antik cam parfum sisesinden esinle uretilmistir. Sise uzerinde, erken donem Memluk yazi karakteri ile "Devlettin temeli, milletler hakimi, adaletli cihan padisahi efendimizin resmini yaptigindan dolayi" ibaresi yazilidir.Bu yazi, sisenin orjinalinin sultan icin yapildigi veya onun tarafindan kullanildigi gostermektedir. Balikli Parfum Sisesi, adini uzerinde bulunan ve bereketi simgeleyen balik figurunden almistir.
