The life flower motif on the Mukarnas Vase and Candle Holder were inspired from the mihrab(niche) in the mosque Konya Sahip Ata Camisi built in 1258. The star design owes is existence to the geometrical patterns of the Kayseri Doner Kumbet. The patterns figuring on the wooden mimbar (pulpit) of the Beysehir Esrefoglu Camisi built between 1296-1299 are now decorating the vase and candle holder in a different interpretation.

Mukarnas (Stalactite) means lofty circular building or parlor decorated with pictures, to which one ascends by a winding or spiral staircase: it also means the rising by stages to the middle (ceiling) as well as geometrical decoration i the Islamic art. The mystical meaning in the Islamic art is concealed in the geometrical patterns and arrengements. In the Anatolian Turkish art the only means of expression in decoration was polygons and polygonal stars. the geometrical designs in surface decoration were transformed into prismatic elements which were eventually placed either adjacently or by superposition.

Mukarnos Vazo ve Mumluk uzerinde kullanilan yasam cicegi motifi 1258 yilinda yapilan konya sahip ata Camisi mihrap mukarnasi uzerinden alinarak yorumlanmistir. Yildiz motifi ise Kayseri Doner Kumbet uzerindeki geometrik motiflerden alintidir. 1296-1299 tarihleri arasinda yaptirilan Beysehir Esrefoglu Camisi ahsap minberi uzerindeki motiflerde yorumlanarak vazo ve mumluk uzerine uygulanmistir.

Mukarnas, Islam sanatinda mimari yapilarda gorulen geometrik bir bezeme cesitidir.
Islam bezeme anlayisinda mistik anlam, geometrik bicimler ve duzenlemelerin kurgusunde gizlenmistir. Evrensel birlik ve denge dusuncesi cokgen ve cok koseli yildizlar olmustur. Yuzeysel bezemede geometrik tasarim birikimi prizmatik ogelere donusturulmus, prizmatik ogelerin yan yana ve ust uste gelerek gelistirdikleri bu bezeme turune mukarnas bezeme adi verilmistir.

Mukarnas Vazo ve Mumluk, el imalati camdan uretilmis, uzerindeki rolyef desenlerin tumu el isciligi ile eskitme boya kullanilarak dekorlanmistir.
