On the Meusa Candle Holder is imprinted the "Medusa head floor design in mosaic", unearthed in Antakya, actually in display in Art Museum of Princeton University.

Medusa, in Greek mythology, is one of the three female monsters of the underground. Medusa was a mortal creature and had to power to petrify those who dared to look at her. This was the reason why Medusa reliefs and mosaics were used in antiquity to protect colossal buildings against evil.

The mosaics of Antioch were used between the second and sixth century A.D. as flooring, in churches, private residences or bathhouses. The majority of these mosaics were discovered during the excavations in Antakya, Harbiye, in the environs of Cevlik. The Antioch mosaic with the technical mastery they exhibit and the decorative and naturalistic features are in the line of the Hellenistic tradition, and enlighten us about the cultural traits and artistic tastes of the period in wich they had been made.

The amber glass Medusa Candle Holder is hand made, the glass surface that displays the mosaic designs is gilt with 24 carats gold, while each mosaic piece is tinted by hand with special glass dye.

Medusa Mumluk uzerinde, Antakya'da bulunan ve Princeton Universitesi Sanat Muzesin'de sergilenmekte olan "Medusa Basi Taban Mozaigi" resmedilmistir.

Medusa, Yunan mitolojisinde yeralti dunyasinin uc disi canavarindan biridir. Medusa, olumludur ve kendisine bakanlari tasa cevirme gucune sahiptir, bu sebeple Antik donemde buyuk yapilari kotuluklerden korumak icin Medusa kabartmalari ve mozaikleri kullanilmistir.

Antakya mozaikleri, 2.yy baslariyla 6.yy arasinda kilise, ozel konut ve hamamlarin taban dosemeleri olarak yapilmis ve buyuk bolumu Antakya, Harbiye, Cevlik civarinda yapilan kazi calismalarinda ortaya cikarilmistir. Teknik ustunlukleri, dekoratif ve naturalist etkileri ile Hellenistik sanat geleneginin devami niteliginde olan Antakya mozaikleri yapildigi donemdeki toplumun kulturel aliskinlari ve sanat zevki hakkinda bilgi vermektedir.
 
Medusa Mumluk, el imalati amber renkli camdan uretilmistir, desenlerin uygulandigi cam yuzey 24 ayar altin yaldiz kullanilarak kaplanmis, altin kaplanan yuzeye mozaik doku uygulamasi yapilmis ve olusan her bir mozaik parcacigi ozel cam boyasi ile tek tek elde bopyanmistir.
